Section 5.4: Billing and Payments
This page covers two kinds of payment:
- Your ABRAM subscription: what your organization pays for its plan, managed in Settings > Billing.
- Paying your crew with a purchase order: a 7-day card authorization you place before work is paid for.
Owners and admins manage billing.
1. Settings > Billing
Open Settings and go to Billing > Billing. The page shows, from top to bottom:
- Plan: your plan, seats, price, next bill and status, with Seats. The plan cards and the Compare plans table sit right below it.
- Payment method: the card on file, with Update. With no card it reads "No card on file." A plan on contract terms reads "Invoiced on contract terms."
- Invoices: your recent ABRAM invoices with Date, Number, Amount and Status (Paid, Due, Unpaid or Void). Each one has a PDF download.
- Usage: how much AI usage is used this month, extra usage for owners and admins, and the Storage meter. See Section 5.3: Billing, Plans and AI Usage.
- Subscription: when the plan renews, with Cancel plan or Resume plan, at the bottom.
A banner appears at the top when something needs you, such as a trial ending, a failed payment or a plan that is set to end.
2. Your card
- In Payment method, click Update.
- Stripe opens its secure card form. Enter the new card and save.
- You return to ABRAM with the new card on file.
If a payment fails
A banner reads "Your last payment failed." and tells you how many days you have to fix it. Click Update in Payment method to add a working card. On a phone, the banner has an Update card button.
3. Changing plans and seats
Click Move to [plan] on a plan card to change plans, or Seats to change how many seats you pay for. On a phone, tap Change plan.
A plan change is confirmed before anything is charged. The confirmation shows the Plan, Seats, Billing (Monthly or Yearly) and what is Due today. Nothing moves until you click Continue to checkout or Confirm change.
The Seats window shows how many seats are in use and the cost of the change. Added seats are prorated onto your next bill. Removed seats end at renewal. You cannot go below the people already in the workspace, including pending invites.
SMB / Enterprise plans run on a contract, so Seats, the plan cards, Compare plans and Cancel plan do not appear for them.
For plan details, see Section 5.3: Billing, Plans and AI Usage.
4. Cancelling and resuming
- In Subscription, click Cancel plan.
- The dialog reads "Cancel [plan]?" and explains: "You keep [plan] until [date]. Then this workspace moves to Free: one production, one seat. Nothing more is charged."
- Click Cancel plan to confirm, or Keep plan to back out.
Until the date, a banner shows when your plan ends. Click Resume plan in Subscription to keep it. On a phone, the banner has a Resume button.
5. Paying crew with a purchase order
A purchase order (PO) lets you commit money to someone before their work is invoiced. You authorize your card, and the payee accepts or rejects.
- Open Financials > Invoices & payments and click New PO.
- Pick the Payee and add the line items.
- Click Authorize payment. Stripe Checkout opens.
- Enter your card and confirm.
Your card is authorized for the total and the charge happens when the payee accepts. The payee must be on Pro or above.
The 7-day hold
Card authorizations last up to 7 days. The payee gets a notification when you authorize.
- When the payee clicks Accept PO, the card is charged and the money goes to their Stripe account.
- When the payee clicks Reject PO, the hold is released straight away.
- On day 6, the payee gets a notification that the PO expires within 24 hours.
- On day 7, if nobody has answered, Stripe releases the hold and the PO moves to Expired. Nothing is charged.
ABRAM never holds your money. Payments go straight to the payee's own Stripe account.
For the full invoice and PO flow, see Section 5.2: Invoicing and Payouts.
