Section 3.10: Packing and Needed vs Booked
A project's gear lives in one list. You add what the shoot needs first, then book each item onto a work order once you know the dates. Every work order then has one pack list, ticked Packed when gear leaves and Returned when it comes back.
Gear comes from your organization's inventory under Resources in the sidebar, which is part of the Pro plan and above. See Section 3.5.
1. Find the project's gear
Open the project and go to Resources, then Equipment. The line at the top counts what is on the list, for example 12 items · 8 booked · 4 needed.
The list is split into groups:
- Needed: gear the project wants that is not on a work order or a date yet.
- One group per work order, named with the work order and its dates. Booked gear sits under the work order it is booked on.
- No work order: gear booked for dates with no work order attached.
Each item shows its status, quantity and day rate. Click an item to open it in your inventory. Use the menu to Export CSV.
2. Add what you need
- Click Add gear from inventory… and type to find an item.
- Pick it. ABRAM adds it to Needed.
- Change the quantity on the row if you need more than one.
Needed items are a list of intent. They hold nothing in your inventory until you book them.
To take an item off the list, click its remove button and confirm Remove.
3. Book it
When the dates are set, click Book on a needed item.
- Choose an existing work order, or New work order with dates and give it a name and a Start and End.
- ABRAM checks availability for those dates.
- Click Book. ABRAM confirms Booked on the work order.
If not enough are free, ABRAM tells you how many are, for example Only 2 of 3 free on those dates. You can still click Request anyway, which holds the item as requested.
4. Pack and return
Each work order group has a Pack list button showing progress, such as Pack list · 5 of 12 packed. Click it to open the list for that work order.
The pack list shows When, Project and Progress, then the gear grouped by department: Camera, Lenses, Lighting, Grip, Audio, Power and media, Transport and Other.
Switch between two modes at the top:
- Packing: tap a line to move it from To pack to Packed. Tap again to undo.
- Returning: tap a line to move it from Packed to Returned.
Each tick records who made it and when. Mark all packed and Mark all returned tick every line at once.
Scan to tick
With the pack list open, a desk barcode scanner ticks the matching line for the mode on screen. If nothing matches, ABRAM says so.
Who can tick
Anyone crewed on the project can tick lines, at the desk or on their phone. Everyone else sees the list read-only.
5. See every pack list
In Resources, the Packing tab lists every work order with booked gear, under Coming up and Earlier. Open one to work its pack list.
