Section 1.7: Using ABRAM on your phone

Most of the time somebody needs ABRAM, they are away from a desk: on a scout, in a van, or on set with fifteen minutes before the next setup. On a phone, ABRAM opens screens built for that moment: what is next, where to be, and how many hours you worked.

ABRAM runs in your phone's browser. You sign in to the same workspace at the same address.

1. Getting around

Open the menu to reach every place on the phone:

  • Chat: ABRAM, the assistant. When your workspace has AI switched on, chat is home.
  • Today: your day, check-in and hours.
  • Calendar: your month.
  • Projects, with Triage underneath for people who handle incoming work.
  • Inbox: every conversation on every project you are on, marked Client or Team.
  • Documents
  • Apps: any app your organization has installed that has a phone screen, such as Link Hub.
  • Notifications, Profile and Settings

2. Today

Today answers "where am I meant to be next". It opens with the next thing on your day, then:

  • Check in on today's shoot day or work order when you arrive, and Wrap when you finish. Your hours come from the clock.
  • Project invite: any invitation waiting for your answer.
  • The day's agenda. Tap a row to open it.
  • My work: what is due this week and what is already late.
  • This week: your hours so far, and Open time card to log and submit them.

See Section 1.9 for check-in and the time card step by step.

3. Calendar

The calendar shows your month with the selected day's list underneath. Switch between Month and Day. Tap + to add a booking, or on the day view hold a gap in the timeline and drag to draw one. Tap an event or work order to open and edit it.

For the desktop calendar, see Section 4.4.

4. Projects

Open a project to see its overview, then go straight to what you need:

  • Run of show: what is on air, how long it has run and how far over it is, and what is next, updated live. People who manage the project can add, reorder and edit items, with lengths to the second. See Section 4.7.
  • Shoot day: the day's call sheet, call times, department notes and the crew on that day.
  • Scenes, with their Elements.
  • Team, Tasks, Documents, Schedule and Budget. Budget shows only when you may see the project's money.
  • Client thread, for people who manage the project, and Activity.

You can open task and deliverable details, and create a work order from a project.

5. Invitations

When someone crews you on a project, the invitation shows on Today and in Invitations. Tap Accept or Decline.

6. Notifications

Notifications can be marked read with Mark all read or by tapping a row, and a long press on a row reveals a button to delete it, so a backlog from a shoot day can be cleared on the way home.

7. Sign-in

On a phone, ABRAM shows its own sign-in screen first. Tap Sign in, or Create an account if you are new. If sign-in does not open, tap Retry. An expired session returns you to this screen. See Section 1.1.

8. What is better on a desktop

The phone is built for reading, answering and quick changes. Some work wants a bigger screen:

  • Building a stripboard or reordering a shooting schedule.
  • Laying out a budget across many columns.
  • Editing a wide Run of show with every cue column visible.
  • Quotes, invoices and payments, which open on the desktop version. See Section 5.6 and Section 5.2.

Mobile behavior specification

ABRAM runs in the phone's browser at the same workspace address, with nothing to install. Phone navigation is a menu drawer with Chat (when workspace AI is on; chat is home), Today, Calendar, Projects, Triage (for people allowed to triage), Inbox, Documents, an Apps group for installed apps with a phone screen (Link Hub), then Notifications, Profile and Settings.
