Section 1.3: Organization Setup & Custom Forms
For teams, agencies, and production companies, ABRAM provides organization workspaces with team management, a public Company Profile, logistics controls, corporate Single Sign-On (SSO), and (on Enterprise plans) custom permission roles.
1. Upgrading to an Organization
If you originally signed up as a solo user, you can upgrade to an organization workspace at any time to unlock team collaboration:
- Go to Settings and open the Workspace tab. This tab is shown to users currently on a solo/personal workspace.
- Click the upgrade button. Its label depends on your account type:
- Upgrade to Organization — shown to client accounts.
- Upgrade to Production Company — shown to contractor accounts.
- This quick upgrade form only asks for two things: your Company Name and your Team Size. Submitting it converts your workspace into an organization and updates your identity context so you're acting on behalf of the new organization.
Separately, there is a fuller organization setup screen that collects more detail about your company:
- Organization Name — your legal entity or company name.
- Organization Type — client accounts only; choose from Enterprise, Agency, Studio, or Other.
- Location — primary headquarters or operating city.
- Website — your company's site.
- About/Bio — a general description of your company.
- Timezone — your primary operating timezone.
You can revisit and fill in these details at any time — they aren't required to finish the quick upgrade above.
2. Three Screens You'll Encounter
Organization workspaces involve three related but distinct screens. Knowing which is which helps avoid confusion:
- Organization Hub — your internal admin area. This is where your team manages the organization day to day: Team/Roster, Documents & Organization Brain, Settings, and Audit Logs (Enterprise). Nothing here is visible to people outside your organization.
- Company Profile editor — where you edit how your organization presents itself publicly: logo, headline, bio, location, website, contact visibility, social links, services/capabilities, and Notable Clients.
- Public Company Profile page — the page other people actually see when they view your organization, built from whatever you've saved in the Company Profile editor.
In short: you manage your organization from the Organization Hub, you edit your public presentation from the Company Profile editor, and the public Company Profile page is the result other people view.
3. Organization Settings
Inside the Organization Hub, the Settings area contains the following management tabs.
Locations
Manage your physical office locations, studios, or storage facilities.
- Add new locations (e.g., "Gear Locker A", "Main Studio Stage 2").
- Edit or delete existing locations. These locations are used to track where equipment and other resources are stored.
Logistics & Operations Settings
Configure automated buffers and rules for your crew and inventory:
- Transit Buffer Days — number of buffer days automatically added before and after bookings, to allow for shipping or prep.
- Default Transit Method — Shipping, Pickup, Dropoff, or Courier.
- Enforce Return Inspections — if enabled, equipment must be marked as inspected upon return before it can be assigned to a new project.
- Needs Repair Lockout — automatically locks damaged equipment out of project scheduling until it's cleared by maintenance.
- Point of Contact Mappings — assign a default point of contact for specific equipment categories.
Single Sign-On (SSO) & Directory Sync
Enterprise workspaces can configure enterprise authentication and user provisioning:
- Click Generate Portal Link for SSO or Directory Sync.
- A secure, self-service setup portal link opens in a new tab.
- Configure your corporate identity provider (SAML, OIDC, Active Directory, Okta, etc.) directly in that portal.
- Changes sync back to ABRAM automatically.
Custom Roles (Enterprise plans)
On an Enterprise plan, admins aren't limited to the standard member permission levels — you can build your own roles:
- Create a new role with a name and description.
- Choose which permissions the role grants using toggles, such as Manage Team, View Financials, Manage Projects, and Manage Resources.
- Save the role, then assign it to any member of your organization.
This lets you give someone exactly the access they need — for example, a role that can view financials without being able to manage projects — rather than choosing between broader default permission levels.
4. Custom Project Request Intake Forms
Custom intake forms let clients and partners submit structured project requests instead of an email or phone call. These have moved out of Organization Settings.
[!NOTE] The form builder now lives under the Clients hub, on its Intake Forms tab — it is no longer part of Organization Settings. Submitted requests are reviewed from the app's Inbox, on the Project Requests tab.
For the full walkthrough — building fields, custom field mapping, domain restrictions, sharing links, and reviewing submissions — see Section 2.3: Custom Intake Forms.
