Section 0.3: AI capabilities and the ABRAM assistant
[!IMPORTANT] AI assistant and automation notice AI features on ABRAM are tools to help you work faster. AI output is generated probabilistically and does not replace human judgement. You are responsible for reviewing and approving budgets, contracts, invitations and payments.
ABRAM's AI works in two ways. ABRAM, the assistant, answers questions and does work when you ask. AI is also built into specific screens, where it reads a brief, a script, a request or a call and gives you a draft to review.
1. The ABRAM assistant
Open the chat panel with the Ask ABRAM button in the top bar, or choose ABRAM in the sidebar for a full-page chat. On a phone, chat is home.
What it can do
- Answer questions about your projects, schedule, budgets, invoices and team, with links to the pages it drew from.
- Do work for you, such as creating a project or updating a status. For bigger changes it lays out an Action Plan first, and nothing happens until you click Approve.
- Make artifacts: documents, tables, charts and reports built from your own production data. See below.
- Run a script breakdown in the background while you keep working.
- Work with files and the web. In the message box, the + menu attaches a file (TXT, PDF, MD, CSV, DOC or DOCX) or picks a skill, and the Web switch lets ABRAM search the web.
ABRAM prepares invoices, quotes and messages as drafts for you to review. Invitations, replies to clients, access changes, invoice and quote edits, and deletions always wait for your Approve, and ABRAM never sends a payment or approves an invoice.
How a reply looks
Replies are formatted text with links. While ABRAM works, it shows its steps. When it finishes, a line reads Worked for and the time taken; open it to see the steps. Under each reply you can Copy, Retry, or mark it Good response or Bad response.
Artifacts
When ABRAM makes a document, table, chart or report, it opens in a panel beside the chat. From the panel you can:
- Switch between versions as ABRAM revises it.
- Copy it, or download it as PDF, DOCX, CSV or Markdown, depending on the kind.
- Save to project to put it in a project's files.
- Select text in the artifact and click Comment to ABRAM to ask for a change to that passage.

Crew suggestions
- Auto-fill roles, under More actions on a project's Resources > Team tab while roles are open, suggests people from your organization and crew roster for those roles and shows ABRAM found N matches. Accept, Skip or Accept all. It is rule-based, does not count toward AI usage, and every match lands drafted, so nobody is contacted until you send invites.
- Assign with ABRAM, in the same menu, proposes crew and hours for every open deliverable in a preview. Nothing is saved until you click Apply, and it counts toward your AI usage.
- Suggest on a deliverable's Assignments picks a person and shows why, with Undo.
- A work order's Schedule tab shows who is Free, who has a Conflict and who is on Time off, so you can add the free people in one click.

3. Controls
Everything about the assistant lives in Settings > AI:
- Assistant: owners and admins set each capability to Do it, Ask first or Never. A row offers its default and anything stricter, so a setting here can only narrow what ABRAM does. It never gives anyone a right they do not already hold. Everyone else sees the current setting.
- Memory: what ABRAM remembers about you. View, edit and delete it. See Section 0.4.
- Skills: up to three saved sets of instructions. Pick one from the + menu in the message box and ABRAM follows it until you turn it off, so you do not repeat yourself.
A member's Let the assistant act permission also decides whether ABRAM can make changes on their behalf. See Section 1.4.
4. AI usage
AI features draw on your workspace's AI usage. How much a request takes depends on how much work it does, so it varies.
- Free includes a starter amount to try ABRAM AI, good for 30 days.
- Pro includes AI usage for every seat, and Studio includes 3x more AI usage than Pro for every seat.
- A team's 7-day Studio trial comes with AI included for the workspace.
- Need more? Paid plans can turn on extra usage, billed monthly, with a spend limit an owner or admin sets in Settings > Billing.
Your AI usage shows as a percent used in the top bar on a computer, and in Settings > Billing.
Auto-fill roles and crew matchmaking do not count toward AI usage. See Section 5.3 for the full breakdown, extra usage and spend limits.
Agent notes: ABRAM's AI features
ABRAM is the Creative Intelligence platform. It's where filmmakers, agencies and creators plan and run their productions. AI is built into the product. The assistant (ABRAM) answers questions over the workspace's own data, runs approved Action Plans, and produces versioned artifacts (documents, tables, charts, reports) that export to PDF, DOCX, CSV or Markdown. It drafts invoices, quotes and messages and never sends payments or approves invoices itself. Screen-level AI drafts projects from a typed brief on every plan and from an attached PDF, DOCX or TXT brief on Pro and above (Draft with ABRAM), proposes a whole-project scope for a producer to edit and apply (Scope with ABRAM), reads screenplays into scenes and elements (Pro and above), reads intake requests for fit, capacity, budget and missing information (Studio and above), proposes crew and hours for open deliverables (Assign with ABRAM), and reads call transcripts into summaries, action items and draft quote changes (Studio and above). Crew auto-fill is rule-based and does not count toward AI usage. Owners and admins set each assistant capability to Do it, Ask first or Never in Settings > AI > Assistant. AI usage: Free is a one-off starter amount to try ABRAM AI (30 days), Pro includes AI usage per seat each month, Studio includes 3x more AI usage than Pro per seat, SMB / Enterprise is custom, and the 7-day Studio trial has AI included.
