Section 6.9: Storage and Files
ABRAM storage is for documents and pictures: scripts, contracts, call sheets, decks, stills and references. Video is shared by link. Your organization shares one storage pool, sized by its plan.
1. Where files live
| Place | What it holds | Who sees it |
|---|---|---|
| Documents > My files | Your own files | You |
| Documents > Shared with me | Files and projects other people shared with you | You |
| A project's Files > Documents | That production's documents, in folders | People on the project |
| A deliverable's Versions | PDF or DOCX files, or links | People on the project, and the client when shared to the portal |
| Organization > Documents & Brain | Organization-wide documents | Owners and admins |
Open Documents in the sidebar and switch between My files and Shared with me at the top. Projects shared with you appear as folders.
2. Working with files
On the Documents page:
- Drag files onto the page to upload. You can drop whole folders, and they keep their structure.
- Create a New folder to organize files. Folders can sit inside folders.
- Sort by Name, Date added or Size.
- Switch between List view and Tile view.
Uploads show their progress as they run. Open a PDF, an image or a document and it opens in ABRAM's viewer, with no download first.
3. What you can upload
- Documents and pictures: PDFs, Word, Excel and PowerPoint files, and images.
- Programs and scripts are refused. ABRAM shows: "Programs and scripts cannot be uploaded. Compress the file into a .zip if you need to store it."
- Deliverable versions take a PDF or DOCX file, or a link.
Video
Video belongs where it already lives. Share it by link:
- Vimeo links on a deliverable version give your client timecoded review in the portal. See Section 6.6: Portal Branding and Video Review.
- Frame.io links a project to its Frame.io project for post-production review. See Section 6.2: Frame.io.
4. How much you can store
| Plan | Storage |
|---|---|
| Free | 500 MB |
| Pro | 10 GB |
| Studio | 25 GB |
| SMB / Enterprise | Set by your contract |
Storage is one pool for the whole organization. It does not grow with seats. If you hold a seat in an organization, your My files also count toward the organization's pool.
Per-file limits
Each place also has a limit for a single file:
| Place | Largest single file |
|---|---|
| My files and organization documents | 5 GB |
| Project documents | 100 MB |
| Deliverable files | 100 MB |
A single file can never be larger than your plan's storage. On Free, that means 500 MB.
Seeing your usage
The Storage meter on the Documents page shows what you have used out of your allowance. It also appears in Settings > Billing > Usage.
When you run out
ABRAM checks your space before an upload starts, so a file that will not fit is refused up front. Delete files you no longer need, or move to a larger plan. See Section 5.3: Billing, Plans and AI Credits.
Troubleshooting
"Programs and scripts cannot be uploaded." The file is a program or script. Compress it into a .zip if you need to keep it.
My upload was refused as too large. Check the per-file limit for where you are uploading, and your remaining storage in the Storage meter.
I cannot see Documents & Brain. Organization documents are for owners and admins.
