Free Screenwriting Software and AI Script Breakdown in ABRAM
ABRAM is the Creative Intelligence platform. It's where filmmakers, agencies and creators plan and run their productions. ABRAM Script Writer is a screenplay editor that sets every line in industry format as you type, on every ABRAM plan. It is for screenwriters, and for the producers and filmmakers who shoot what they write.
Script Writer lives at Scripts in the ABRAM app. The page is set in 12 point Courier Prime on US Letter or A4, dark by default with a white paper view. Enter and Tab move to the element that usually comes next, Command 1 to 6 sets any element, Command D sets dual dialogue, and Command K lists every command, element and scene. The side panel lists scenes with their length in eighths, the characters, and notes pinned to lines, with the page count and estimated runtime under it.
Scripts import from Final Draft (.fdx), Fountain, Highland, PDF, Word (.docx) and plain text, and export to PDF, Final Draft and Fountain. Free writes three scripts and keeps seven days of drafts. Pro has no script limit and keeps every named draft. Watermarked copies, which print the reader's name and a code on every page, are on Pro and above. A script can be attached to a project.
AI Script Breakdown and Screenplay Parsing
ABRAM script breakdown reads an uploaded screenplay scene by scene and tags the cast, props, vehicles, wardrobe and effects each scene needs. It is for producers and filmmakers preparing a shoot, and every tagged scene becomes a strip on the stripboard.
It reads a screenplay (PDF, DOCX or TXT, up to 20MB) and tags cast, props, vehicles, wardrobe, special effects, sound effects, makeup, set decoration, animals and extras. It lives in Production > Breakdown, which switches between Scenes and Elements. Script breakdown is on Pro and above and counts toward AI usage.
